Today, Gawker. Tomorrow, Stereogum.

What do you do if you can't afford a book tour? Answer: you do it on the internet:

New York media maven and mp3 blogger Andy Krucoff has organized this kind of "virtual book tour" for the week of King Dork's release. He calls it the "Litzkrieg Bop Blog Book Tour," and the idea is to mimic what it might be like if I actually were coming to your town to help you party down and so forth. Each a day, a different blog will feature an mp3 of me reading a chunk of the book; a song; and a Q & A or other type of hastily thrown-together content. He even made a little trailer to advertise the whole thing. It is almost just like real life, except fuzzier and less expensive.

Day one (Monday) is at Gawker, featuring the song "I Wanna Ramone You."

Tuesday: Stereogum.

Wednesday: Largehearted Boy

Thursday: Brooklyn Vegan.

Friday: JaneMag.com

Mmm... Krucoff. He's delicious and blogarific. Tell him well done. And congratulations on the books.

Frank, just ordered a copy of King Dork from Amazon (along with a CD of Desolation Blvd. for good measure). Paula and I are gonna try to make it to Cato's, if we can we can work out the child care thing.

This e-book tour thing is a great idea. Looking forward to it. Also looking for to King Dork in the mail sometime this week. Amazon told me it just shipped. WORD!

How does it happen that officially the book's not released till tomorrow and I see that everyone had to pre-order while meanwhile I already bought & read the book this weekend for $8.50 from the "used young adult" section of whatever that bookstore's called on Solano? Dumb luck I guess. Or booky people selling their promo copies? Tsk tsk.

Anyway, my real wonder..ment is, the songs.. Ok will there be a separate CD, like an EP released of Chi-Mo's songs? Or does it only come packaged if you buy the book new? Or will we be able to buy it directly with Paypal like 8 Little Songs? I'd totally do that. Also, I could pay a little extra tip type deal cuz I feel bad about the whole buying the book used thing. But I mean, when I saw it there, I wasn't *not* gonna buy it! (they still have the other copy last I checked)

Great book BTW

Wow, Gawker. Cangratulations, that seems like a pretty big deal. If they can only get you some product placement on the OC.

Mine ships on the 15th.

Boy, Frank, you really know how to use the internets. Good luck on the big day. If Cato's weren't 3,000 miles west, I'd buy you a beer.

I got notification from Amazon that my copy was shipped yesterday. Hee!

Frank, perhaps there could be a virtual book signing. You could post a few different inscriptions with a signature. Then we could print our favorite and stick them in the front of the book.

Taking that idea to the next (and just a little creepy) level, if you posted a generic photo of yourself sitting behind a table with a copy of your book, a fan could photoshop themselves in.

Got a copy from Random House 'cause I'm big time and I'm half way through it. Good stuff. Tell Krucoff he better have my money.

After a recent episode trying to buy another book from the YA Section at B&N, I ordered King Dork from Amazon. No hassles. I'm looking forward to listening in to the e-book tour next week. Keep rockin'.

Would you believe I got the last copy at the area bookstore after work today? Seems like you're doing all right in my neck of the woods.

I have to point out that no one else mentioned the Lord of the Rings reference. Does this make me a dork?

(This would have been better with italics, damnit.)
