All the Way Up There

marisa.jpg

So here is the current schedule for the Northwest trek next week.

A lot of this stuff was added very recently, so there isn't going to be a lot of time to get the word out. The self-deprecator in me (pretty much identical to the entire me - I mean, there is almost complete overlap in that particular Venn diagram) wants to make some sort of joke here along the lines of, well, maybe we'd do better the less the word gets out... But actually, book appearances need all the help they can get, so please, please, please tell your friends and try to stop by if you live in the area.

My previous call for minions actually yielded a handful of minions, believe it or not. So if you happen to be in (a) the Pacific Northwest and (b) the minion mood, here is exactly where you should be trying to get and when, and what you'll see when you get there:

OK, I'm not trying to impress anyone, and I know I won't, but...
file this one under "what are the odds", when I was but a wee school sprite, a frind of mine and I put together a band called "Hostile Karma" and we played only songs from "Desolation Boulevard", and, since we couldn't find anyone else to join us in this wonderful mess of an idea, we did the whole thing as just a bass and drums band (only "Sweet F.A." and "Set Me Free" sounded anything close to good). Our only "show" was at a lesbian protest thing in Cornell (where we grew up). We wore chemical warfore masks while we played, and were followed by a hand holding sing-a-long of "We're All Women Loving Women" (I'm not kidding) and we (oddley enough) sang along in our chemical warfare masks. We changed the name of our band immediately afterward. To what I can't remember. Nice.

Do I get any kind of "Minion" t-shirt or maybe a membership card of some sort? Also, I need to know if should be going more for the craven, Igor-esque sort of minion or the hired thug image... basically the only difference would be a choice between walking with a hunched, shambling gait or wearing some sort of tight knit cap. I'm pretty much open for either. You've got to take what you can get in this crazy world.

Frank, if you come to East Tennessee with your book touting self, I will minion my ass off. I'll even get my kids to do a little mini-minioning.
My wife finally ordered the book by the way, when she ordered her helmet for roller derby. So I'll be reading it as soon as Amazon gets it to me.

Heh...we call our fans MalaMinions. Maybe we can trade sometime.

Jules Maes is a saloon. to the best of your knowledge, will the show be 21+? (they sometimes offer a bar w/id setup for more promising bands, but it depends)

I'm not sure if the Jules Maes show is 21+; I'll find out. It might be worth noting that the Twilight show in Portland is definitely 21+. I never thing about these things anymore...

Yeah, Jules Maes is 21+. Sorry!

When are we going to see an East Coast trek? I'm 1.5 ways through King Dork. I bought a copy for my dad for his birthday later this month, loaned out my copy to my roommate and asked politely if my girlfriend would read it and she politely agreed to my request. She liked it too. You have east coast minions. Please come out and sign my copy.
