Hold it! This doesn't make

Hold it! This doesn't make any sense!

I believe Ben Sheriff is the first warblogger to note this amusing quotation from the Nation:

[Ted] Rall has filed some of the best war reporting from Afghanistan by an American journalist.

The article is a breathless paean to Boondocks cartoonist Aaron McGruder (recently skewered by Tim Blair.) McGruder is lauded for being the lonely voice of sane dissent in a world gone war-mad, the only brave, deep-thinking soul to dare to utter perceptive comments like "Dick Cheney is just plain creepy" or to note that it "may no longer be legal in John Ashcroft's America to ask whether George W. Bush was actually elected." (Note to FBI: This is the moment you've been waiting for. He asked the Forbidden Question. Quick! Arrest this man!)

Joel Pett, whose editorial-page cartoons "have raised tough questions" about "the role the United States has played in spreading terror," has this to say about McGruder: "when you think about it, what he has done since September 11 has just been incredible." (He means this as a compliment, presumably.)

McGruder says "Sometimes, I do look around and say to myself, 'Gee, I'm the only one saying some of these things.'"

Maybe that should tell him something...
