A Scene from the Great Tuning Debate

kevfrank.jpg
Kevin on the left, me on the right, and Bobby's '77 Telecaster Deluxe in my quivering but not-yet-defeated arms. It's a great-sounding guitar, and it stays pretty well in tune, but arguably the most wonderful thing about it is the fact that its pickguard looks almost exactly like the linoleum in the kitchen of the house where I grew up. Anyway, that's my best guess as to why it makes me feel warm and comforted, yet somehow hungry as well. I think it's called Hacienda Rust, or something like that.

Now I've got to go practice before heading down to the studio so I'll have a shot at not sucking quite so bad today. See ya.

Didn't Fender unveil Teles and Strats that have bright pink and blue paisley-swirl paint jobs not too long ago? That '77 is cooler than those...

Mmmmmmm, dual hummer Tele's. *Drool*

I've been looking for one of those for years, but always seemed to be way over priced on EBay, especially considering you can't even play the thing before you buy it. Ever since those Radiohead bastards started playing them in their videos they made a once relatively inexpensive used guitar into hot real estate. Sort of like Nirvana back in the early '90s with the old Jaguars and Jazzmasters. Oh well, such is life.

That sure is one sexy pickguard, though.

Yeah, the guitar's cool, but how 'bout that shirt? Dr. Frank, you're a straw hat and a price-tag away from entering a Minnie Pearl impersonator contest.
