My guest spot as Smugglers vocalist at the Great American Music Hall:
The MTX at the GAMH. The guy in the baseball cap is Vova from Moscow. I think he's the first Russian kid to make it out to the East Bay to see the band. It is very difficult for getting visa, he told me. He was pretty disappointed to have missed the Queers, but he seemed to have a good time anyway.
My good friends (and familiar Lookout Records devotees) Frank and Heather took those photos, and they stopped by the studio: here's a photo of them, me, and Spacetoast's favorite shirt. Sa-lute!

Pictures are good! You look sorta like Bruce Springsteen in the top photo. Actually, I've not seen MTX in quite some time, so all of this is somewhat new to me. Last time I saw you, Dr. F, was on Telegraph Avenue and you were stuffing your face with a sandwich. "Dr. Frank," I shouted, and waved. You managed a polite "mmmph!" and a half-wave that said: "can't you see my mouth is full and I have a sandwich in my hand!?" Anyhow, congrats on the upcoming album. Rock on, Boss.

I'm just a fan and (vocal) member of the peanut gallery...maybe in the latter capacity I'd like to see myself as an amateur Tom Servo to Dr. Frank's "blogic" (say) "Horrors of Spider Island." E.g., maybe I inspect the above pic and ask Dr. Frank why, instead of recording his album like he's supposed to, he's using valuable studio time to convene the bay area chapter of the Lonesome Cowboys/Irene Ryan appreciation society. Ya know? And then maybe I fumble some shadow puppets.
