but it, as a set, is not to be, I vow

I'm not sure why, but there has been a sudden spike in "eight little songs" orders. This blog has been getting an unusual number of referrals from live journal urls lately as well, which seems to have something to do with the "She's not a Flower" mp3. Maybe there's some connection there, too. At any rate, thanks very much for all the orders.

Speaking of "She's not a Flower," Dave Bug and his cyberfriends have invented a weird game where you try to "translate" text using only words of three letters or fewer; he has managed to come up with such a translation of that song ("she is no mum bud") that actually preserves the rhyme scheme and (pretty much) the meter. The title of this post is a line from it, intended to capture the spirit of "but there really isn't such a thing" in words of <= 3. If my lyrics were this strange and cryptic to begin with, I'm sure I'd be hailed as a genius, get rewarded with huge stacks of cash, and have people helpfully translating my songs into complex, poly-syllabic, grammatically correct sentences.

I love time-consuming projects that are devoid of any practical application. You could say my song was pretty close already. But Dave took it one step further and completed the process, bless him. Check it out.

I was VERY surprised to see that when I popped the "8 Little Songs" CD into my computer at home to copy into my iPod that iTunes came back with a match and titled the CD and all my songs for me. Did you submit it to CDDB, Frank? I just thought that it was strange that it came back with a match for a "demo disc".

Cheers!

One more bit of "news", Frank. The "Democracy is gay" line posted by "Tre Cool" and the "you're fired" remark posted by "BJ" reminded of this. Have you seen the weird little, schizophrenic side project that the boys from Green Day are doing? If not it's a new album from a "band" called "the Network". It is obscenely obvious that "the Network" is just Green Day plus a couple more guys to play keyboards. BJ is publicly blasting the lead singer "Wilhelm Fink" and vice versa. If you still listen to Green Day or since you knew them in the past, you probably realize that "Wilhelm Fink" was an old alias that BJ went by and also wrote a song titled "the Ballad of Wilhelm Fink." Sorry to get sidetracked, but the funniest thing of all is they are all dressed like Luchadores and the music sounds like a cross between "DEVO" and "Green Day", with the emphasis being on the "DEVO" theme/sound. I suggest you check it out if you're looking for a few good laughs and believe it or not, some darned good music!

I went to check out the Network's site. And though this is really getting off the hand of Dr. Frank's website I find it kinda funny someone posted a topic on their messageboard that was basically, just the lyrics to godblesslawrencelivermore. Which would have to do with Dr. Frank, just not this particular thread. at all. But I like the network. I'm sure their show sold out really fast.

I keep getting a lot of referrals from livejournal URLs, too, though I can't find any links to my site on any of the referring pages. Odd.

Sorry,
I know that it was a bit off topic, but I figured that Frank would appreciate a humorous look at some guys that he used to do shows with. Plus, somebody did post here using the pseudonames of Tre Cool and Bille Joe Armstrong.

In Keepin with the theme of this extreme sidetrack, I'd like to ask Frank: what the hell was it like playing European arenas with Green Day in '96?

I don't think MTX ever toured Europe with Green Day. I don't remember why not though. I know the awesome Riverdales played some European dates with Green Day in 96. I too would be interested to hear Dr Frank's views on the Network.

I know I just bought "8 Little Songs". I've long been a fan of The Mr. T Experience, but just discovered your Blog on Friday (and linked to it on my Live Journal, so maybe that was me, too).

I tip my hat to you, Dr. F, for how you put my URL up.

I was suprised how long it took from me ordering 8 little songs to the time it took to pop it in my Cd player. Very fast. The Cd was a nice suprise too. I enjoyed it.

I was wondering when will you be touring? When in Missouri? I saw MTX with the Teen Idols at the HI Pointe ages ago. Okay it was 97 or 98. I think march. It was a good show and I'd love to see more good shows.
