A Kill is Mandatory

I lost track of how I arrived at the link (sorry), nor do I know how long its current form will last, but this is pretty weird.

I'm not doctor shopping either! Okay, maybe a little. Shit, everyone should "know" a doctor. Buy a few porterhouses, get some beer, and invite a doctor over. Trust me, it's well effin worth it. If I were Limbaugh, there would be doctors lining up to be shopped for. So, while not a conservative nor a Limbaugh fan, I applaud Rush's restraint if he has more than me. Which is to say, little, but, huzzah!, in any case.

Apparently, here's the text of the article "killed":

I'm glad Limbaugh is challenging the claim that the state has the right to leaf through his medical records.

As much as I'd like to see him "sent up" as he's advocated for other drug offenders, his privacy shouldn't be invaded.

The new Patriot Act II provisions that were snuck through congress and were signed into law by Bush while we were all distracted by the capture of Saddam will make it easier to get Limbaugh's financial information. It'd be nice to see someone with the means to fight this challenge the constitutionality of the Patriot Act, it'd be icing on the cake if it were someone who was so supportive of it when he wasn't the target of federal investigation. These provisions mean no more judicial oversight for the FBI- they can just go to your bank and demand your records and your bank isn't allowed to tell you about it.

It'd make putting Limbaugh away easier, but I'm not ready to give up personal freedoms and privacy in order to send a right-wing blowhard to jail.

Were you in Vegas over the holidays? The FBI has your name and financial information. Why? They won't say.

Welcome to 1984, twenty years late.

From what I've heard wire services send out kill messages all the time as a quick way to alert news organizations that they shouldn't use a story because it has a mistake. For some reason the Post put up one of the kill messages.

The best part are the mentions in both Democrats.com *and* BushCountry.org (Google Archives found when searching for "Please kill the story" seemingly to prove the (respective) conservative/liberal bias in the media.

Damn, you're good, Dave. Yeah, that is the best part. Tender soul that I am, I didn't even consider the conspiracy/bias angle. I just thought the unintentional words looked pretty on the page-- like found art.

Why does everybody care so much about Rush Limbaugh? He's a friggin' radio talk show host for Pete's sake! I personally don't care for Michael Moore but his political clout is about as worthless as Rush's. Leave the man alone.

In the past he's said drug abusers should be sent to prison.

Now that he's been caught he's changed his mind.

In the past he's said that there's no constitutional right to privacy.

Now that he's been caught he's claiming his constitutional right to privacy has been violated.

I don't care if he goes to prison or not, I just hope he stops funding terrorists with his drug money.

See this link for Rush's links to Al Queda:

(yes, that's a joke, but so is the US drug policy.)

I had the same reaction , the page just looked strange on a "things you don't usually see on a newspaper website" level. Like some strange form of communication. Or, yes, found art. Instant poetry. Funny how everyone here started spouting about Rush. I'm the only one who understands, man. And i never take my jacket off.

There was a mandatory kill on that list of sports figures phone numbers that went out the other day. We could start spouting about that.

Definitely a weird looking page.

But love him, hate him, don't give a crap; Rush is one of the most powerful people in America. Which, I think, would make him one of the most powerful in the world. Listen to his show as often as you can for as long as you can stand (try over a month)...then watch the fall out throughout politics and the media that come as a reaction to him. It's kind of scary.

He had clearly changed his mind on drugs before he was caught... I also never recall him advocating the govt. going through med records...

ACLU files papers backing Limbaugh

Posted by: HH at January 12, 2004 07:40 PM

HH: He clearly changed his mind? Do you have anything to back this up? Obviously his attitude about drugs changed after he found out his maid was wearing a wire for the cops...

It's clear you don't recall how angry Rush was (on April 4, 2003) that Jessica Lynch's medical records were kept private- he wanted to see if she'd been raped- he had this creepy theory about her being hung by her ankles and tortured while in the Iraqi hospital.

"There is no right to privacy specifically enumerated in the Constitution."
- Rush Limbaugh, June 27, 2003

"... the seizure of Mr. Limbaugh's private medical records without going through the process outlined by the state Legislature is clearly an invasion of his Constitutional right to privacy.
-Rush Limbaugh, December 23, 2003

I'm glad the ACLU is involved- it's clear they're above petty politics.
