Texted by the Fruit of Another

I guess this kind of counts as a "found" letter. I got a wayward text message on my mobile phone today. I'm not necessarily discounting the idea that it could be a hoax by someone I know whose number I don't recognize, but if it's not that, it was accidentally sent to my number by someone trying to reach someone else in all sincerity. It doesn't quite seem like it could be real, but many of the best things in life don't. Anyway, here it is:

Hi dru its doLL. Dam havent talked to yo ass in like HeLLa days.. WeLL yea hoLLa bac at dis girl one time. Dis be my new ceLL number. Aight then.. Bye cutie!

My ex-girlfriend once got a wayward text message that said "See you after class. - Dr. Sphincter". Someone should compile these!

Sadly, SADLY, that seems pretty real and authetic to me.

So you DID get the message? And you didn't even call me back? Just because you're all "Mr. Guy Singin' Songs" and all that, you think you can just ignore my heartfelt pleas to talk to you...

..er...

...yo ass?

And authentic!

oh you should always talk back when people accidentally text message you. it's fun!

Damn Frank, you still live in Berkely right? From these messeges/letters you're finding, it sounds more like you've went accross the bay to Oakland.

Oh, believe me Jodi, I did. But I didn't get a reply.

About the only thing I'd be interested in finding in Oakland would be Network Associates Colliseum ;)

This is great. I get text messages like this all the time too. The girl who used to have my cell # was evidently nicknamed "Boobies" by legions of friends, and even now, she routinely still gives out her old phone # (in other words MY phone #) to shady dudes who are trying to pick her up. Makes for a lot of entertaining phone messages.

Hopefully you'll get more, because I'm in agreement with Jodi here, text message conversations with strangers rule!

yeah, unless you don't have unlimited messaging and then start having to pay for them....yikes!!

Hey homes, Don't be dissin' Oak Town. That's my hood!!! Man, the Raiders are going to SUCK this year.

Seems like there's a lot of Boyd Rice-style fun to be had in answering these things and saving / publishing the evidence.

A weblog collecting such things -- and god knows how you would verify they're real -- would be my first & last read on the computer every day, forever.

Who Will Do It? Who will take the Dr. Frank Challenge??????

What are the chances of accidentaly text messaging someone using a Verizon LG VX6000 if the number is not in your phone or the person has not text you in 2 months? I ask because my ex "accidentally" text me with "I love you!" When I asked her about it she said it was a mistake! I sat with my phone for an hour trying to figure out how she could have done it (sober) and I can't figure it out!
She said she didnt have my number in her phone and we havent text each other in 2 months so I know I'm not the last person who text her. This happened Sunday after I saw her (drunk) Friday when she was all over me and trying to grab my hand! What do you guys think?
