Help is on the way

Intense hypnotherapy is, apparently, the answer to "post-election selection trauma". I have an idea that Norm Geras's prescription would be just as effective (though admittedly, less hilarious), but then I would, wouldn't I?

Ok, it's sad for real that people are killing themselves, but come on...It's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Whether you're happy with who the president is or not, let's be realistic. I think we're gonna make it another 4 years.

freakin really...i was right...psychologist are
making this stuff up as they go along. it gets more and more ridiculous each time.

Did they even try to discount the possibility that the trauma could be caused by factors other than the election results? Bi-polar disorder maybe? Clinical depression? Attention Deficit Disorder? I'm willing to bet these people weren't exactly psychologically healthy BEFORE the election.

Case in point... According to the article one guy killed himself because of the election results...

oh yeah, by the way he was also having girlfriend problems...

exactly,psychology is so overcatagorized. they
find a new case study who's is tincy bit different and suddenly..POOF!...brand new disorder. Happens too much, and this may be arguable, but I don't even think ADD is a real disorder. Rather,i think its just another form of obsessive compulsive combined with bad eating habits...too much junk food and all that.
I mean I love junk food and all,but there should be a balance of good and junk. Diet is so much
really,so I don't blame California for being all crazy about it actually, just that shouldn't be something I should have to say is a matter of choice. But that's not really the point and now I'm rambling. Another one those things I can go on forever about are people's minds. Yet,truly,
how little we know about them,eh?

It sounds crazy, but when i was watching coverage of the election and realized that Bush was going to win, I had terrible thoughts about where my life was going to go from here. I haven't felt so hopeless since I graduated from college and started working at Kinkos. I am a sane individual, but I find myself wanting to do very bad things to cars that have Bush/Cheney stickers on them. All I'm saying is this story could be true indeed.

Posted by: anythingcoloredpink at November 12, 2004 05:55 PM

Before the election, my neighbors had many many Bush/Cheney signs in their yard and they starts hanging up signs on the fence in my driveway. So, every day, I'd go and tear down the sign and the kept putting them back up. Then, about 2 weeks ago, I guess they got pissed about me tearing the signs down and they decided to smash in the passenger side window of my car while I was sleeping. Now, I guess I don't know for sure that it was them, but I'm pretty positive it was. So, maybe the election can make people do crazy things, but it all still seems a little ridiculous to me.

Or how about they started hanging up signs instead of they starts to.

I wish these left-wing wack-o liberal party poopers would buck up and look at the bright side:

My favorite part is the part about waving their guns in blatant shows of force.

Seriously though, I don't understand how you could NOT have some type of new unnamed traumatic syndrome (NUTS) given the current state of our foreign affairs.

fan,

Well, if you really wanted to try a half-hearted stab at optimism you could say that Iraq will keep George Bush and the US Armed Forces at his disposal so busy for the next four years they won't have time to muck things up in the rest of the world. Likewise, the terrorists will be so busy striking at the huge bullseye we've created that any domestic action should be minimal.

Then you get another shot in 2008.

Cheer up, mate.

There's a support group called Emotions Anonymous? Now that's hilarious.

Anyway, lefties are usually never happy anyway, so how is this different?
