I don't know why it is this way...

Wanna see a photo of Hungary's ambassador to the US jamming with Tommy Ramone at the Hungarian Embassy? Go here. The US ambassador to Russia is on drums. They played "Blitzkrieg Bop," "Beat on the Brat," and "Let's Dance."

(via Harry's Place.)

UPDATE: as commenters point out, the caption on the photo is wrong. The guy with the mic. is Tommy Ramone. I don't know who the bass-player is, but he doesn't look too much like Ambassador Andras Simonyi either, at least as he appears in this photo. The drummer, who may or may not be the US Ambassador to something or other, appears to be the same dude, however. Well, good drummers are hard to come by. I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of it one day. Don't get me wrong though: it is a great, great photo.

This might be the funniest thing I've ever seen.

International relations would be so much better right now if we could only equip all ambassadors with more Ramones-centric diplomacy tactics.

Call me crazy, but isn't "Hungary's crazy-looking wall-eyed ambassador to the U.S." actually Tommy Ramone? Look at that picture again. The caption says Tommy is playing bass. I do believe Tommy is the fellow singing. Am i wrong?

That's Tommy with the mic. Someone is confused at that site. The guy on bass looks about 30.

Ah, Tommy, the reluctant Ramone. It's good to see that he's still rockin'. Back in 1976, when he wrote, "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend" he was convinced the Ramones could be the next Bay City Rollers. I bet he never thought it would come to this... On the other hand, what have Les and Woody been up too lately? Pat McGlynn? Derek and Eric? Tommy can sing at my embassy any day.

Sorry for screwing up the caption, and thanks for calling it to my attention. Yes, it appears your commenter is right that the crazy-looking guy is Tommy Ramone (figures) not the ambassador from Hungary, though I do like it better that way. Anyway, I think I've got it straight now. But this is a blog, so you get what you pay for.
