About to Rock, Salute You, etc.

So, the MTX is playing on Friday, April 1st in Santa Cruz at the Beach Boardwalk. At 6:30 pm., they say. We'll be playing on the Summer Bandstand: start at the Cocoanut Grove arcade, go past the Pirate Ship, and when you see the Sky Glider, you're there.

Frank-
We'll be there for your show. That's actually the night before my bridal shower, but we'll do it anyway. :)
On that note, I just realized that I don't have an address to send you a wedding invitation. Robert invited you in person many months ago, and you said that you wouldn't be sure if you were free until it got closer to the date (it's on Saturday, May 7th).
E-mail me if there's a chance that you can make it and I'll send you an electronic version of the invitation (I'd rather not post the details for everyone on your blog to see- we're already struggling with keeping the guest list down!).
No pressure to come or anything- we just wanted people who were influential in our relationship to be there, so we thought we would extend an invitation to you and yours.

Well, let us know!
Melissa and Robert
(That nauseating couple from San Jose) :)

March in Santa Cruz ... I was almost killed in Santa Cruz one spring-break March, by the cruel cruel weather, and our terrible miscalculation about being able to "crash the dorms" or something. (There were no humans in the dorms; we put out sleeping bags under a tree, it immediately began pouring down rain like 10 inches in three hours, we ran to the "shelter" of a bus stop, ice-rain going horizontal strait into our eyeballs, no sleep, frostbite pants, unable to manipulate zippers. etc.). To add insult to injury, the next day the jerks at the school library kicked us out for being wet dogs, and in the confusion & shame we forgot our basketball.

The only thing that made things livable again was A) eating about a thousand tacos at Jack & the Box, B) getting the clothes dried at a laundromat, C) successfully buying beer despite lack of fake ID, and D) strolling down the boardwalk with 40s in our hands, checking out the freaks, ending up on the jetty while the sun went down. Purgatory to valhalla, in just 24 hours.

That night we successfully hitched up to Frisco, got lost in Golden Gate Park, and the Cycle of Shame started all over again.... Have fun in Santa Cruz!

April 1st? Beware of the Dr. Frank prank!

Posted by: Zaphod at March 22, 2005 10:54 AM

my friend quoted Dr Frank in his customized wedding vows last summer. it was awesome in that "99% of the people don't get the reference" sort of way.

ps: he also played a toy accordian as his wifey walked down the aisle (with guitar & glockenspiel accompaniment).

pps: it was soo much greater than you're thinking was.

I'm on Spring Break right now. That's my first week back and I have to work a band festival at school. Oh well, I don't see my fiance driving that far anyhow, as he's already seen MTX several times. So Frank, come closer to Portland dammit! We have a nice quiet place you can stay (I hear you're not one for house parties) and dammit I want to see MTX!

There will be "WB Stars" there on the 1st? Oh dear.

Will the super dreamy Jesse McCartney of "Summerland" be there? He sings and he is, of course, super dreamy. Oh, hang on. I just threw up in my mouth a little bit. Okay. Better now.

Have a good show, Frank.

isn't "summerland" that lori loughlin vehicle? jesse mccartney is the new hot thing, yeah? he's a little too femme for me. not that there's anything wrong with it.

this show might be worth it if there are bikini clad go-go dancers and pirates on stage, otherwise corndogs are looking pretty good to me.

i may sound like a moron here, but will i be able to bring my 7-year-old? the child is a big fan of "revenge is sweet."

i mean, they couldn't possibly have a way to ID, but you never know...

Rosen, it's an all ages fun for the entire family type event.

we would love to go see mtx, the only problemo is that we live in sf and can not find any transportation. do you think you guys will be playing any shows in the near future located in the bay area? that would be rockin.

We do plan to do some shows in San Francisco at some point, but we're still getting our act together, quite literally. I'm not sure when it will happen, but we're gearing up for it.

Hey Frank,
How are things? I had a couple questions for you. First, I was wondering if there are still plans to do a 2nd solo cd? If so would songs like Coffee, Tea or Me and Melodrama Mama be on it and 2nd are there any plans for an MTX tour anytime soon?

Posted by: Nick at March 26, 2005 11:03 PM

Cat and I plan to come from Santa Rosa and Sacramento, so you'd better be there!:)

Wait, half the band is driving from Sac as well...

We haven't seen you play in a while. We're looking forward to fancy dancing with you and being fucked up on life!

So when is MTX coming to Europe?
I read about American gigs, but never any European ones... And yes I missed Dr Frank with his monkeys ;-(

Are you planning on coming to Europe? Why not tour some festivals this summer?
