The west towers rose towards the sky, striking toward heaven...

I don't know what's weirder:

(a) that we have a "national cathedral" in Washington;

or (b) that there's a Darth Vader head carved into the northwest corner of its nave.

(via the Corner.)

A service at The National Cathedral is the only church service I've ever attended. It was a pretty building but I was not aware of the Darth Vader.

I recall reading about the movement to make "Jedi" an official religion by having enough people cite it in the census. But you'd think they'd want representation from the light side of the force, not the dark, in the N.C. But as a news article today quotes a fan as saying, "The Dark Side is way cooler." Go figure...

apparently, the national cathedral is non-denominational. I was there once in the 8th grade on a school trip. I really can't remember much except for the fact that there is a darth vader gargoyle. I viewed it through my new pair of counterfeit oakley sunglasses.
