The Song is a Snapshot of an Event in History

The metal band Saxon has been denied permission to play at Dubai's Desert Rock festival because of the lyrics to the song "Crusader." This is allegedly a translation of part of an editorial from a local paper:

The question here for the band and the organisers is what will SAXON do in Dubai's land and on Arabian sands? Are they going to make us, the Saracen heathens, taste their music just as if their guitars were swords made of steel?

New band name:
Their guitars were swords made of steel.

1st album title- Taste our music.

Awesome. I'd put the Arabic on top, and then have the English in parentheses underneath.

What the folks in Dubai should really be pissed about is the fact that they were going to be asked to pay to see Saxon in the first place. That band was already pretty washed up by the time they released Crusader in 1984.

The album prior to Crusader, Power and the Glory, was decent. I saw them open for, and blow away, Motley Crue on the tour for that album in about '83. The real heyday of Saxon, however, was around '80-81 when they released the NWOBHM classics Strong Arm of the Law, Denim and Leather, and Wheels of Steel. They would have truly crushed the Saracen heathens had they played Dubai back then.

You think Stryper might be able to take their place?

Oddly enough, my Rory Storm & The Hurricanes tribute act has just been asked to fill in the vacancy left by Saxon....and this is the third time we've been asked to fill in for them! All right!

And I say:
Take a page from the sex worker literati playbook and buy up all those second-hand copies yourself to stay ahead in the numbers game.

Where exactly do the punk identity and the whore identity collide?

I don't know, but if you get it on video, I want a copy.
