Get on Your Bikes and Ride...

If you want to witness Joel Stein writing about King Dork in Time Magazine and comparing me to Mark Twain, sort of, go here. (I like the Chris Henchy quote.)

UPDATE: I'll tell you what: it sure is weird to see your picture in a real honest to god magazine. It isn't on-line, but this is the photo they used in the dead tree version of the article, taken by Paige O'Donoghue when we were goofing off at the Hyatt a few months back:

(Unfortunately, they misspelled her name on the photo credit - sorry Paige!)

And, by the way, if you're interested in those Sam Hellerman T-shirts, here's where to get some.

UPDATE II: According to the article, the King Dork trailer helped the Gary Sanchez guys "see" it as a movie. (Which was news to me.) Of course, the credit for the video goes to Andrew Krucoff, not me. Nice work!

King Dork was a "teen novel"? News to me...

Nice article, but the author takes some jabs at you here and there. That's not cool. Also, did he take something out of context or is MTX really RIP?

please dispell!

Believe me, we're still gonna do some stuff, Z and Josh.

I'm glad to hear that. Although I REALLY enjoyed "King Dork", I'd hate to think of it as "the day the music died". Here's to more MTX and more book too! CHEERS!

Frank do you play pop punk or punk pop? I think Stein should have said, "Plus, the band had fallen apart...9 times."

I don't have any kids, but I would most definitely let my 14-year-old read King Dork. The book isn't "severe," being 14 is severe.

I'm happy for you Dr. Frank and I'm really glad to hear that MTX isn't done.

"King Dork ... will appeal only to ... teens with an interest in ... oral sex..." - VOYA

awsome.

Frank, what is the deal with Track 13 on this monstrosity: http://www.amazon.com/Bat-Out-Hell-Meat-Loaf/dp/B000FQ4M58 ?

I guess you should be ... flattered?

SF Gate has, in their "Two Cents" section "Who Should Be Time magazine's 'Person of the Year'?" I was really sorry to see that nobody mentioned you, with the quote "Dr. Frank...because, like, they already have the picture?"

My dream of a Fresh Air segment featuring you is a near-certainty. I feel it in my BONES!

Once again, congratulations on the gigantic snowball of success that you're rolling around in!

ha. frank, i hope you know i was totally joking about that. there is NO way the youtube video factored into their decision at all. just having fun with it!

...but hey, if a scene where a 12 year old girl gets crammed into a locker makes the final cut, just make sure her name is andrea krucoff.
