Judd Apatow should be the director in any case.

I was going to delurk to let you know that King Dork made the Multnomah County library staff pick last week but, clearly, becoming a staple of teen "Fanjayas" everywhere is a much higher accolade!

this is a joke right?

i mean i actually liked him as a singer but he's kinda hip for playing a dork type. maybe he could play Sam but i don't know.

i kinda imagine a more ordinary guy for Tom.

i think perhaps i am going to start adding 'jaya' as a random suffix to various words. 'i'm going to workjaya, but call me later and maybe we can get a beerjaya.' etc.

Speaking of Dr. Frank and movies..... This may be a bit unrelated but I do DVD movie reviews for a website and pretty much get stuff flung at me randomly. Tonight I watched Glory Daze, which features two of my favourite actors, Ben Affleck and John Rhys Davies and, WOW, music by "the Mr. T Experience".

Needless to say, the movie was EXCELLENT. I'm going to cut and paste my review below:

This movie is pretty much the Animal House/Breakfast Club of the late 80s/early 90s (my hayday). Ben Affleck is as Ben Affleck should be: Tough, witty and funny. This is why the guy got a lot of roles in Hollywood, not the crappy pigeon holed stuff he has done from time to time. IG you liked him in the Kevin Smith films, you will like him here.

The movie is about a group of 5 guys about to graduate from college who all share a house and are best buds. They all have no idea what they're going to do with themselves after they're out of school and decide to go out with a bang and one last hurrah!

Final Verdict:
I loved this movie. It has 2 of my favourite actors (Affleck and Davies), one of my favourite musics (punk rock, especially from MTX) and thematically is very familiar to my late teen/early 20s life. If not for the semi-weak ending then this would have been an easy 4star no brainer. Realizing that not everybody is going to have such close ties to the movie as I do, I'm going to give it a more fair ***. It's a sleeper movie for sure though.

"What kind of a name is King Dork?"

Posted by: David at June 7, 2007 12:21 AM

"similarities to Sanjaya are EEERIE!!"

"If they put Sanjaya in there, it'll have to be called King Hottie" (I'll spare us from additional nausea).

BTW Frank, I just heard "My Stupid Life" about fifteen minutes ago on XM Satellite Radio ("XL Fungus channel"). Cha Ching!

I can honestly say I'd never thought of Sanjaya for the role of Tom, but, as the girls say Sanjaya HAS to play this character".

Not like I completely do, but I don't think they get it. Sanjaya is a little too excessive and flamboyant for our little Tom.

Really though, it's cool to see them pick up the book. I hope they all enjoy it.

Maybe a cameo as the guy with the helmet. I don't remember that character's name, though.
