Last Minute...

Hey, guess what? I'm doing a little acoustic set tomorrow in New York, that's what. Wednesday, 19 September, 8:30 PM. A Rooftop Films event.

It's "on the lawn" at Open Road Park, 11th St. between 1st and Avenue A.

Me at 8:30. Films at 9. Free. Details here. Tell people!

I know it's about as short as notice can possibly get, but what the heck...

UPDATE: it went all right. It was one of those things where they have you up on a miniature drive-in movie type screen:

Thanks to Crystal for the photo.

Awesome! I'll be there! I have a request - "Hey Emily" even though you won't play it and told me a few years ago when you played a show in NY that no one likes that song.

Good, and yet bummer. That notice was just a little too short.

Unfortunately there's no way in hell I can be there, but, just to help jordan out a little, I INSIST that you play "Hey Emily".

Or "All My Promises".

But firstly, "Hey Emily".

damn, if I didn't have a job interview tomorrow morning in the city, I'd be there drinking a few beers and enjoying it.

Ok, if not Hey Emily, what about "Perhaps"?

i cant be there because NY isnt in oklahoma. i say play hey emily, i mean seriously. i've seen you countless times and you have nevereverneverever played When I Lost You. I even begged you once. you gave me a coy look whilst pulling on your bottle of bud and saying "we don't really play that live." oh frank, how i'd love to hear that played live. how i would. with all the perfect electo-distorted super-fuzz, exlpoding-tube melodics.

luke.

Great. I read the blog a day too late. Well, I was sick anyhow.
I'll give you a call and see if you're still in NY...

It was a great set. The good Doktor actually appeared to take requests and immediately played many of them. It wasn't as good as last year's Sidewalk Cafe show, which was incredibly awesome, but it was very good nonetheless.

As an aside, many of the people there didn't know Dr. Frank because they only came for the Film part of the show so it was interesting to watch them sitting in their seats watching Dr. Frank like a movie and seeing their reactions to some of the lyrics.

Songs I remember [not in order]:

I Wrote a Book About Rock and Roll
Ba Ba Ba Ba Ba
Two Martinis From Now
King Dork
Knock Knock [Please Let Me In]
Jill
She Turned Out To Be Crazy
Even Hitler Had A Girlfriend [Introduced with "This is a song about a guy"]
More Than Toast
Cingular Wireless

The good doc was kind enough to sign my copy of King Dork and take a picture with me. Thanks for being you and being awesome. LONG LIVE THE CHI-MO'S!

I've more or less been doing nothing , but oh well. Basically nothing seems worth thinking about, but such is life. I don't care. I haven't been up to much.,
