Mail from Emily

So I was reading King Dork for the bajillionth time the other day and my dad asked me what was "supposed to be under" the title of the book. My dad is hardly LBT material, but after I replied "The Catcher in the Rye" he immediately broke out in a song and dance about how amazing that book is (just kidding).

But he really did speak to me passionately, with a twinkle in his eye, about the good old days when he used to carry a copy of it everywhere he went. Which I thought was pretty ironic. Then he asked what King dork was about and I replied "how much the Catcher in the Rye sucks" and walked away...

He may have sighed LBT style after that exchange.

I wanted to tell Tom about that, and since he's fictional and all I figured you'd be the next best thing.

That's adorable. From my experience, generating a sign from your parents is the best possible outcome from any situation. Yelling means you've gone a step too far, good cheer and support means you've not gone far enough.
