Tuesday, August 25th, 2009, 7 PM, etc.

When King Dork came out, I had a hard time finding a bookstore willing to do a launch event, so I ended up just doing one myself on the release date at Cato's Ale House on Piedmont in Oakland, where I hang out and do a lot of my writing.

It wound up working out pretty well and being a lot of fun, so even though I don't absolutely have to this time, I figured why not do it again, really?

So here are the details:

Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Cato's Ale House. 3891 Piedmont Ave. Oakland, CA 94661. 7 PM. Free.

Hosted by Beth Lisick, featuring stand-up psychic Becky Walsh, other guests TBA, possibly, and a little bit of reading plus an acoustic set from me.

I'll also be doing these local appearances:

Thursday, August 27, 2009. Diesel, A Bookstore in Oakland, 5433 College Ave., Oakland, CA 94618 7 PM.

Tuesday, September 8, 2009. NYMBC event at Books Inc., Opera Plaza, 601 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102

After that, I'll be doing this stuff, too, and I'll have more to say about that soon, so stay tuned.

(By the way, if anyone with graphic-y skills feels like helping out by designing a flier, that would be really, er, helpful. So let me know.)

Clackamas?! Interesting choice, but at least you're coming to Oregon :)

Stand-up psychic seems like a cool touch.

Also: "As for whether magic is real: if anything is real, magic is, too," raised some questions. Are you saying you're open to the possibility?

I wish I lived near the author event locations.

I can design stuff and junk. I'd like to say I'll see you there but I haven't gotten my work schedule for those days yet, but as always I will do my best.

No disrespect to the rest of Oregon, but you are coming to Oregon to promote your book and you aren't going to the big book store in the big city - Powell's City of Books in Portland? I have no car, but I'll see if I can still get to Clackamas.

Damn, Cory Branan is playing the Satyricon September 15th too. I'm a longer time fan of you and really only have ever heard Cory's split with Jon Snodgrass. I guess if I miss the bus or something, I have a back up plan waiting for me at the Satyricon.

When are you coming to Chicago?

Frank, My brother-in-law lives in Piedmont so I will ask him if he has been to Cato's establishment.

My local bookstore in Portsmouth, NH, recommended King Dork highly and I enjoyed it so much that I convinced others to buy out all their copies! One of the funniest books I have read in a long time. Thanks for writing it.
