Everybody's flogging a book these days.
Bad Religion singer Greg Graffin has a book out on 30 July. It's a "discussion" with Professor Preston Jones on the subject: Is Belief in God Good, Bad or Irrelevant?
I haven't seen the book, but my guess is that Graffin thinks it's "bad." Otherwise he'd have to change the name of his band.
Even though I already know the ending, I am so ordering this book though. Anti-Reagan and stuff man, yeah.
I can't find a link but I also heard that one of the guys from Pennywise recently sold a book about how to be a "punk dad."

Posted by Dr. Frank at May 5, 2006 06:18 PM | TrackBackThe singer for Pennywise was featured recently in the magazine that AYSO puts out quarterly. Apparently he's also a soccer dad. I was a punk rock soccer dad first and do it better, or so I tell myself.

I get the feeling that it's just because you don't agree with his viewpoints on religion and you just brush off any of his arguments as a result.

Posted by: Hulka at May 6, 2006 07:14 AMHe published his PH.D dissertation I think 2 years back. So I guess it's not a recent trend for Mr. Graffin.
Posted by: Brian at May 7, 2006 07:12 AMSome years ago I had the chanche to briefly discuss by phone with Brett of Bad Religion about the meaning of their band's name.
Bad religion, he told me, is against a kind of American religiousness well represented by the multitude of tv-preachers more interested into collecting money than in God.
This is why I would not be so sure that the Graffin's view will fully side against the belief in God.
Let's wait and see...
The guy from Bad Religion (not totally sure which one) was a professor at my Alma Mater (Cornell). I think it was in plant science or some other biology. He must be a pretty smart guy.
Posted by: josh at May 8, 2006 01:14 PMGreg Graffin used to teach before Bad Religion started taking up all of his time so that's who you're thinking of.
