We're gonna slow it down now for all the young lovers

Favorite moment from our show in Brooklyn the other day: during the second encore, when I played a solo version of "I Believe in You" and looked into the crowd and saw several couples making out while they were swaying and singing along. It was like when the band plays "Freebird" at a high school dance. I'm a sentimental fool, I know that. But it was pretty great.

what? nobody makes out with "fucked up on life" as their backdrop? what the hell is wrong with people?!

I can't believe I missed the Brooklyn show. I had so much going on here this week, I completely forgot about it. Damn.

Come back!

I second Michele's comment! I am very poor at assembling groups of people to go to shows, not to mention piss-scared of going into the city and then taking the subway to Brooklyn by myself like a nerd.

Glad to hear it went well, though! Did Jawbreaker happen to show up and take the stage together for a few numbers, anything like that?

Aye, we need more sentimental fools in this world. Or so I say.

Making out an an MTX show is the greatest joy I'll ever know. Sentimental foolery is an admirable trait.

Thanks, Beth. And now, over to Frank for the sports report. How about those Giants, Frank?

Posted by: Slim at February 26, 2004 10:50 PM

I wish people living in places like California, the Southwest and The Southeast would refrain from EVER mentioning the weather during the wintertime. Am I just bitter? Yeah, I am bitter. Bitter and fuckin' cold.

hey i ain't from here,i did my time,in freakin
alaska freezing to death while waiting for the

I think we can probably all agree that the only places the weather doesn't suck in the goold ole' USA is in SoCal, S. FL, S. TX and Hawaii, maybe AZ or NM if you like it HOT. Where I'm at, if it's not cold and/or snowing then it's raining. I think we can string together maybe 2 days in a row without rain only in July and August, otherwise it's raining in the warm months and cold and snowy in the winter months.

Me and a friend from work caught the show in Hamden CT on Monday. Just wanted to say you guys were awesome. The whole card was awesome. That was pretty funny when you called me out for not "Wooing" loud enough for "How'd the date end?" (In reality I realized after voting that "You today" or "Even Hitler Had A Girlfriend" Were in fact better songs to choose from. Oh well a spade is a spade I suppose ) Though you've seen so many fans over the tour you might not even remember. But anyway It was the best show I've ever been to. Hands down.
Hope you're feeling better.
Best of luck to you guys on the rest of the tour.
Thanks again for an entertaining show.

I had the time of my life at the Chicago show! I have the luxury, through my mother's job, of being able to fly non-revenue space available.

I have an obligatory drunken prosecutor party to go to Friday night. (My employment very much depends upon it.) Then, in a scheme quite uncharacteristic of me (read: I am not an obsessed fan/stalker/groupie type in the least), I am trying to catch a 6:55 am flight to get to Orlando by the mid-afternoon.

My free flying ends in November, and if I don’t take any arbitrary trips now, the opportunity will pass me by. If I actually make it - I would absolutely love to buy MTX a round of drinks.

Hopefully see you Saturday!

I need to find someone who'll make out with me at MTX shows.

The Brooklyn show rocked my socks! My favorite moment was everyone singing along to "Ba ba ba ba ba". I got goosebumps.

Posted by: Duncan at February 27, 2004 04:05 PM

Duncan- i bet karen would, you know those drunken lawyer types. always willing to play tonsil hockey..

Posted by: mike at February 27, 2004 04:43 PM

Oh, I should have been more specific. I'm a 'mo, so I'd prefer a guy. :)

Still, making out is making out.

Posted by: Duncan at February 27, 2004 05:37 PM

Thats just mating season in Brooklyn, it happens every year...
I wish i could have gone though, but it's been a rough week. Between missing MTX and the Ted Leo show in Hoboken selling out on me, theres just no hope for me in this damned year of the monkey.

Posted by: Mikey at February 27, 2004 06:24 PM

Hey Mikey! You can always catch "the Misfits" er....I mean Jerry Only in one of his 666 million shows or appearances. No seriously, check out a band called the Kowalskis, they're local to you and pretty cool too!

Posted by: Channon at February 27, 2004 08:05 PM

"Hey I've run out of things to say during the breaks... I've got a joke for you that goes: I bet our governor can beat up your governor" *booo* *hisss*
