We believe in one holy Catholic and apostolic church, plus a variety of others that are pretty much just as awesome...

Maureen Dowd phones it in from Rome, with a lazy compare-and-contrast between the Pope and Dick Cheney. This just in: "the new pope views the Roman Catholic Church as the one true religion." No way.

I took my boyfriend to my best friend's confirmation a couple of years ago, and he complained endlessly throughout the ceremony about the Catholic belief that theirs was the one true church. Uh, why did he think that everyone there was in it following its rules? I expect a church to believe that it's the only one that's correct.

Apparently it's shocking to some people that the Pope is...like...Catholic!

How dare he say that the religion he leads, represents, and fully believes in is the correct one?

When the One Great Scorer comes to write against Maureen Dowd's name, he'll write, not that she won or lost, but that she inspired hundreds to believe that they could not *possibly* write worse than she, and so was responsible for a veritable tsunami of bad punditry. I offer myself as Exhibit A.

She's going straight to Hell.

Nothing beats Catholicism. According to the Catholic Church, nothing!

I must agree with JB. Why are people so shocked and upset. The Catholic church hasn't really been know for change in oh, the last several hundred years or so.

Catholicism changes like any star, every million years or so...
