Field Trippin'

As you can see, I crashed the Lane Smith party yesterday at Copperfields in Petaluma. Lane read some stories, made some underwear jokes, and wore a wig; there was also a "John, Paul, George and Ben" sing-along and a bit of the Chicken Dance. I've never done a gig like that before - it was fun. It was actually rather similar to playing for my usual sort of teen-something audience, the only real difference being that most of the kids were a couple of feet shorter. There are more photos over at Lane's terrific new website.

After the show we went around to various bookstores and signed books and had drinks and so forth. All on "the Mouse." It was a good time.

There was a scheduling SNAFU, and it turns out that the appearance in San Jose that was originally scheduled for Tuesday is actually happening on Wednesday. Sorry about that.

So for Wednesday, April 26, the Lane Smith show featuring Dr. Frank and Big Lou will be at:

Book Passage, 51 Tamal Vista Blvd., Corte Madera, CA; 415 927 0960 x 239. 10 AM.

Hickelbees, 1378 Lincoln Avenue, San Jose CA; 408 292 8880. 2 - 4:30 PM.

UPDATE: the Lane Smith link was bad; I just fixed it.

Hey, Frank. Random question...
Do Tom's criticisms of The Journal of Albion Moonlight reflect your own? Because... at the risk of sounding pretentious, I gotta admit, I was a bit intriged by the brief description.

I'm only halfway through King Dork, and enjoying it very much. It's relieving to finlly find an appropriate name for the action referred to as "the make out/fake out"; having survived a great number of them myself in high school.

STILL no King Dork at Border's. They told me it'd be here this week, now they say next week. Grrrrr!

Awww cute!

I got that book for my sister yesterday, after finally finding it in the kids' section, reading it, and deeming it appropriately adorable. Haven't given it to her yet, since she had a book report to do today, but perhaps tomorrow.

Is it just me, or is the link to the Lane Smith site kind of messed up?

I get a dead link too, Kate.

When are you hauling your cookies to L.A. so that I can get an non-personalized autograph for my copy of King Dork to sell on e-Bay, Doctor Frank?

[yes, yes. Come to L.A.]

I thoroughly enjoyed the book, Frank. If I were a more eloquent English major I could tell you in fancy terms what I liked about it. But since I'm a failure, my review will have to "It was most excellent!" That is the best I can do.

That gig above looks really rad. I bet the kids enjoyed it.
