If this clip of Jodie Foster performing Serge Gainsbourg's "Comic Strip" in a rope swing with Claude François on French TV doesn't cheer you up at least a little, I really don't know what to suggest.

As for the Gainsbourg 69 track, whew - he's alluring, gives a sense of that metropolitan swingerness of the age. Keep in mind, though, how Gainsbourg became a moral wreck later in life. See the incestuous video he did called "The Lemon Song"? Or his drunken, vulgar pass at Whitney Houston on live TV? He's an open-book study of some of the music industry's dirty laundry.
