Book Notes and the flavor of yesterday

I've always loved Largehearted Boy's Book Notes feature, where writers present annotated playlists of songs to go along with their books. So I'm really stoked to be included: here's a playlist for Andromeda Klein.

As mentioned in the post, this was intended to be a mix CD to play before, after, and in between acts at the book launch show at Cato's. In fact, though, it never got played. They looked at my CD and were all: "Okay, grandpa, with your 'compact disk' of 'tracks'..." Airquotes included.

Turned out -- and I know I should have checked this beforehand -- they had no CD player at the bar. They do all their music via Rhapsody or some such.

Now, I did have the playlist on my iPod. But would you leave your iPod on a counter at a crowded bar for four hours? I guess there's something to be said for the storage media of the olden days, after all. Whippersnappers. They have no idea whatsoever of what went on at Stalingrad.

Socks before or after trousers, but never socks before pants, that’s the rule. Makes a man look scary – like a chicken.

If you read back to your post on the availability of the 7", I believe I warned you of this when asking if we were going to get an mp3 version from either iTunes or Amazon. Sure, I may have done it in a comedic manor but your old buddy Zaphod is wise in the ways of technology.
